LAKESIDE, Ore. - A recall election is in the works for Lakeside, after citizens submitted the necessary signatures to recall the entire city council and the mayor.

According to the Coos County Elections Office, two separate petitions were received with the necessary signatures certified earlier this month. As a result, Lakeside voters should receive their ballots beginning next month, with the recall election scheduled for Nov. 17.

In this town of around 1,500 people, the mayor and his council have been accused of parceling out jobs and contracts to friends, circumventing the standard vetting processes, and laying off or pushing out those who disagree.
