NEAR WILSONVILLE, Ore. - One man died late Friday night after being hit by a car on Interstate 5 near the Interstate 205 interchange, according to Oregon State Police.

The accident happened just before 11 p.m.

Police said the man was trying to cross the southbound lanes of the highway when he was hit. He died at the scene.

The crash shut down several lanes while officers investigated.

Forty-five minutes after the first crash, state patrollers said two cars crashed in the northbound lanes of I-5. One of the drivers may have been trying to get a look at the first crash, police said. There were only minor injuries in the second accident.

All lanes were opened by 12:45 a.m. They have not released the name of the victim, and are still looking into the cause of the crash.
