PORTLAND, Ore. - What should happen to the Memorial Coliseum?

On Monday, the city started accepting concept applications and a huge Rose Quarter tenant, the Portland Trail Blazers, is already pushing one idea with their launch of a new Web site called Imagine: Jump Town.

Blazers president Larry Miller said the idea is to pay homage to the old 'Jump Town' neighborhood where the Rose Quarter currently sits by putting in bars, restaurants and live music.  He believes it will help the economy by creating jobs while building a green, sustainable development that will benefit much more than the team.

“The Memorial Coliseum will play a central role in our vision for a district that’s green, vibrant and better connected to adjacent communities,” said Trail Blazer President Larry Miller. “We want to create a neighborhood that’s rooted in Portland values and informed by community input.”

Got A Fabulous Idea Of Your Own?

While the ideas should have community benefit and be sustainable, they don't necessarily have to come from development firms or big corporations - you can submit an idea as well. You have until Dec. 1, 2009 to submit your own proposal.
