This is a press release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office:

Summary of Event:

A 66-year-old woman was crossing Southwest Scholls Ferry Road Monday when she was struck by a car and critically injured. The woman driving the car told police that she didn't see the pedestrian because the sun was in her eyes.

Details of Event:

On Monday, Nov. 02, at about 3:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a person hit by a car at the intersection of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Southwest Stephens Lane in the community of Raleigh Hills.

Deputies determined that 66-year-old Susan Ogilvy of Raleigh Hills was crossing Scholls Ferry Road and was struck by a Jaguar traveling southwest on Scholls Ferry from Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. The female driver of the car said the sun was in her eyes and she could not see Ogilvy crossing the street. Witnesses said Ogilvy did not look both ways prior to crossing the road and stepped into the path of the oncoming car.

Ogilvy was transported by ambulance to OHSU where she is currently listed in critical condition with a head injury.

Deputies had Southwest Scholls Ferry Road shut down for about two hours while they investigated the crash.

The driver of the car was not arrested and no citations were issued.
