PORTLAND, Ore. - More than 400 students are getting ready to file into the once-closed Rose City Park Elementary School.
They've been home since last Tuesday when a massive fire destroyed a wing of Marysville Elementary School.
Volunteers spent all weekend getting the huge building all cleaned up and kid-friendly again. It was closed two years ago due to budget cuts.
Teachers told KATU News they think the kids will love their temporary school because it's three stories tall. Marysville was only one story tall.
Classes begin at 8:35 a.m. Monday. The school is about 5 miles from the damaged Marysville school building.
The cause of the 3-alarm fire is under investigation. No one was hurt in the fire, which struck during school hours.
