Spot news: Outages and wind gusts throughout the area   

During the Portland area's Nov. 22 "winter storm warning":

  • About 1,200 Cowlitz County PUD customers were without electricity Sunday - down from approximately 11,500 who lost power over Sunday night. Outages impact areas west of Longview, from Stella to the Wahkiakum County line; areas of Kelso; the Pacific Terrace and Ammons Drive neighborhoods in Longview; and several smaller pockets countywide.
  • A power outage impacting an Oregon City sewage treatment plant diverted raw sewage from three Oregon towns into the Willamette River. The Willamette River flows north from Oregon City through downtown Portland before merging with the Columbia River. Learn more.
  • In Northeast Portland, the power was out for at least a few hours Sunday morning on Northeast 20th Avenue, south of Fremont Street.
  • At least 8,400 Portland-area homes serviced by PGE were without power Sunday afternoon. 

During the Portland area's Nov. 16 wind storm:

  • Strong winds are credited for causing a power outage in Vancouver's Lincoln area, covering Northwest 41st, Spruce, Grant and Maple streets. The outage impacted 80 Clark Public Utilities customers. More information
  • The traffic signal at the Northeast Portland intersection of Northeast 42nd Avenue and Prescott Street went dark Monday afternoon.
  • At the mouth of the Columbia River, waves climbed to 20 feet tall by Monday afternoon.
  • Peak winds were clocked at 82 miles per hour in Pacific City and 70 miles per hour at mouth of Columbia River.
  • Seaside Oregon Department of Transportation crews reported 10 inches of water on U.S. Highway 101 just south of Seaside. A conditional closure for high-profile vehicles went into effect 5 p.m. Monday and was lifted 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17. Speed limit is 5 miles per hour.
  • In Cowlitz County, 23 Cowlitz Public Utility customers in Kelso (on Jones Road near the high school) were without electric service as of 11 p.m. Monday night.
