OSP tracks down DUII driver going 120 mph on I-84

The incident began about 10:12 p.m. when an Oregon State Police trooper located a black Acura that had been eastbound on Interstate 84 driving without lights on.  The trooper checked the car's speed eastbound near milepost 68 (east of Hood River) at 120 mph.  The car continued eastbound and as it entered The Dalles area a Wasco County SO deputy checked its speed at 109 mph.  The car exited coming into The Dalles and reversed direction returning to the freeway westbound.

The vehicle was spotted westbound at milepost 63 in Hood River but failed to yield to OSP trooper.  As detailed in the Hood River County SO news release, the vehicle attempted to elude officers for several miles before parking on a city street in Hood River.  The driver was taken into custody by OSP and Hood River County SO after a short foot chase at 11:08 p.m.

Jonah Smith-Sedahgaty, age 23, was lodged in the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility (NORCOR) in The Dalles for:

* DUII
* Reckless Driving (6 counts)
* Felony Attempt to Elude a Police Officer (6 counts)
* Recklessly Endangering Another Person (6 counts)
* Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot

He was also cited for:

* Exceeding the Speed Limit in Excess of 100 mph to wit: 120 mph in a 65 mph area
* Fail to Maintain a Single Lane of Travel
* Fail to Maintain a Safe Distance from an Emergency Vehicle
* Refusing a Breath Test
