PORTLAND, Ore. - A 14-year-old Barlow High School student is in critical condition after getting hit by a vehicle in northeast Portland Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. at Northeast 157th and Halsey Street.  According to police, the teenager was going down a hill, did not stop at a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle.  The teen was not wearing a helmet.

Police say the driver, 46-year-old Janet Gomez, did remain at the scene and fully cooperated with police.  Investigators do not believe that speed or impairment played a role in the crash.  No citations have been issued.

The family of the teen has been notified.  Police are not releasing his name because he is a juvenile.
