LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - A fishing guide out for a leisurely Saturday morning tour on the Willamette River made a horrific discovery: a human body entangled in a nest of woody debris.

The dead body was found at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, by the fishing guide and his clients. It was floating down the Willamette River, just below Hogg Island, on the Lake Oswego side of the river.

Clackamas County Sheriff's marine unit responded, and towed the remains to the east side of the river at the Oak Grove Boulevard boat ramp. The Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner now has possession of the recovered human remains.

Clackamas officials believe the corpse has been in the water "for a considerable amount of time," according to a sheriff's office press release. Officials have not identified the gender of the person found.

A forensic autopsy is anticipated.
