When will Portland's boil-water order be lifted?
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Water Bureau will hold a joint press conference at 5 p.m. Sunday to announce the results of new tests at Washington Park's E. coli-contaminated open-air reservoir. If the tests come back clean, then water usage can return to normal for many throughout the Portland area.
The press conference will consist of City of Portland Mayor Sam Adams, Water Bureau Commissioner Randy Leonard, Water Bureau Administrator David G. Shaff, and Tri-County Public Health Officer Dr. Gary Oxman. It's scheduled for the Water Bureau's Interstate Auditorium at 1900 N. Interstate Ave. in Portland.
The bureau will announce the results of water sample tests performed at multiple westside locations on Nov. 28, 2009. The boil-water order remains in effect at this time.
"Any changes to the order will be announced at the briefing," reports a Portland Water Bureau press release, "and no information about the tests will be available until the briefing."
KATU News received word at 4:18 p.m. Sunday that additional testing of the West Portland area's drinking water showed no further presence of bacterial contamination. The "Boil Water Notice" was immediately lifted.
