8 arrested in Eugene St. Patrick's Day party
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Eight people were arrested and 25 minors were cited for alcohol possession at a St. Patrick's Day party in Eugene that police described as out of control.
More than 30 people were crammed in the two-bedroom apartment when police responded early Sunday to a noise complaint. When the people inside refused to open the door, police obtained a search warrant and forced their way in.
The Register-Guard reports those arrested face possible charges of furnishing alcohol to minors and resisting arrest. They include some people identified on the University of Oregon website as students.
Police said one person at the scene was wearing a leprechaun hat.
30 people in a 2 bed room apt. big deal, I have fit at least 25 on a 32 foot cabin cruiser for a dock party, all inside, New Years Eve and a bit cold to stay on deck.
Have to wonder what they used for probable cause for that warrant.
A drunken Irish-inspired bash? In Eugene, the home of UofO? At last, some normalcy. TG they weren't smoking pot. Traditionalists....you gotta love it.
@PortlandEastside green green green
Kids drinking and partying at Spring Break? Â Why, they should be locked up for life! (for getting caught!!)
One thing you can Say about Eugene, they sure know how to party.
Anybody know the difference between St Paddy's day and MLK day?
@tally I don't think they sell much Colt 45 on St Paddy's day.
@PortlandEastside @tally Or OE8
30 people in a small apartment, including 25 little people? Must have been leprechauns! At least the good news is that none of them fell out an apartment window! Â
We should ban apartments!
@HopeAndChange Cliché much?
Thats a lot of people in a small apartment!
I partied when I was in school, especially on St. Paddy's day, I may even have worn a hat.
@old_dollor Yep, it's apparent others find this news....
Reason # 563 to quit drinking.
"Police said one person at the scene was wearing a leprechaun hat." - Hahahaha
Was wondering why that was important to put in the article.
@Oregon7812 entertainment value.
What? College students partying on St Patricks? Say it ain't so!
"They include some people identified on the University of Oregon website as students."
If the UofO had any standards they would kick these folks out. But that won't happen cause higher education needs the money more than having standards.
The athletes get preferential treatment for sure.
@RalphCramden You're a buffoon Ralph. Too many kids getting a college education isn't really a problem in this environment.
Yeah, every university should kick out students that drink underage. You'll be left with about 10 students per school.
@Oregon7812Â
And that works for me.
Breaking the law should be grounds for immediate dismissal. Drinking or possession of alcohol under age 21 is a crime in Oregon.
@tanninÂ
And I paid for that by having to prove myself for many years before people figured out that I was reformed.
I also got kicked out of school for alcohol which violated policy and it was the right call on the part of the school.
Unlike the entitlement society I did take responsibility for my screw ups and deserved everything I had coming to me.
@whats up wit uÂ
And that is one reason we don't hire anyone with an MIP. There are too many folks out there that have a clean record. We look at MIP's as a total disregard for laws and a possible substance problem.
I am on the board of several companies and we set policy for hiring and firing.
@randola @RalphCramden @Oregon7812 Double secret probation was founded in Oregon wasn't it? Just a short while before a famous parade leaving a bunny in a happy kid's lap.
@RalphCramden @Oregon7812 I'm thinking they might be put on probation - double secret probation...
@RalphCramden You say this after all the bad things you claim to have done way back when!
@RalphCramden @Oregon7812 Absolutly! We need to make sure these kids have no future what-so-ever! Lets just put them out of our misery! Execute em.
Your an idiot. Kids will stop drinking at Oregon the same time they quit smoking pot. Â You should get in touch with reality sometime, its kinda fun.
