Fund established to help fallen firefighter's family

PORTLAND, Ore. - A fund to help the family of longtime Portland firefighter George Godson has been established.

Godson, a firefighter for nearly 19 years, died of an apparent heart attack in his sleep Monday. It is suspected his death was linked to his years of service. A memorial service was held Friday for the 43-year-old.

He left behind a wife and five children.

Anyone who wishes to help the family can contribute to the George Godson Family Fund at any Washington Mutual bank branch. Relatives said the money will be used for the children's future education costs.
