Portland police report first murder of 2010
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have told the Associated Press that Friday's stabbing in Southeast Portland is the first murder of 2010.
Meanwhile, the details in that stabbing case have emerged.
At 4:30 a.m. Friday police say they responded to a Southeast Portland call to find a woman who had been stabbed. (Southeast Lincoln Street was closed between 117th and 122nd avenues while the investigation was under way.)
The suspect was identified late Friday as 54-year-old Jong K. Koh, with officers originally saying only that "Koh and the victim knew each other." Koh is charged with murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
The victim was identified Saturday afternoon as 78-year-old Ran Hee Koh, his mother. She was found with multiple stab wounds early Friday in the home she shared with her son near Southeast 118th Avenue and Lincoln Street.
Ran Hee Koh died from her injuries at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital on Friday. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
Officers officially arrested Jong Koh late Friday night. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning.
