Man who put partner's body on ice nets prison sentence
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A Portland man who kept the body of his partner on ice for at least three days after killing him has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Jeffery Scott Rogers was convicted of manslaughter in the death of 50-year-old Timothy Gripp. The cause of death was strangulation and blunt force abdominal trauma.
The 37-year-old Rogers was arrested after he told police there was a body in his home on Southeast 48th Avenue near Hawthorne Street.
Investigators said Rogers kept Gripp's body on ice in a bathtub, emptying the couple's freezer of its packages of vegetables and meat to help keep the body cold.
