BUII? Cyclist found unconscious in roadway

ESTACADA, Ore. - A bicyclist was found unconscious in the roadway on Highway 224 east of Estacada Wednesday night by a passing motorist, according to Oregon State Police.

Authorities said the man, identified as Timothy Crawford, 43, was found unconscious just after 9 p.m. next to his bicycle. Police said Thursday it appears Crawford was very intoxicated, according to blood test results.

An Oregon State Police dispatcher originally said Crawford suffered injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle, but police on the scene said there was no evidence he was hit by a car and there was no damage to his bicycle.

Crawford was flown to Legacy Emanuel Hospital by LifeFlight and police have not been able to interview him to learn what happened before he was found.

Crawford was reportedly cited for bicycling under the influence of intoxicants following the results of the blood test.

Police closed Highway 224 at Highway 211 until about 11 p.m.
