PORTLAND, Ore. - It's the first day of spring, and temperatures feel like it. Temperatures reached into the 70s in many parts of Oregon.

Spring officially kicked off at 10:32 am Saturday morning. It was accompanied by sunny skies with highs from 60 into 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the Willamette Valley. Those at Oregon's beaches hit temperatures between 55 and 63 degrees Fahrenheit.

But as those in Oregon and Southwest Washington get out to wash their cars and till their gardens, those in Oklahoma are bearing down under a spring blizzard. A powerful storm is blowing through Oklahoma and the southern Plains on this first day of spring, bringing heavy snow, strong winds and a fear of snow drifts.

The storm comes a day after temperatures reached into the 70s in the Plains. For those watching the NCAA tournament games, weather may affect attendance at both the men's and women's competitions in Oklahoma City and Norman, Okla., this weekend.

The final highs and lows hit Saturday in the Oregon and Southwest Washington area, from KATU Weather Forecaster Joe English:
