WARM SPRINGS, Ore. (AP) - An 83-year-old Brookings man died Monday when his Volvo station wagon went off Highway 26 and down a 60-foot embankment.

The Oregon State Police said Douglas Jarman died at the scene after losing control of the vehicle while rounding a sweeping curve. Though the car landed on its top, passenger Dorothy Hansen managed to get out and crawl up the embankment to get help.

Warm Springs rescue workers took the 76-year-old to Mountain View Hospital in Madras with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
