Gunshot victim says he traveled from California to Portland with bullet in his chest
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Canby police say a 29-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Officer Chris Mead said the victim told police he got shot in Southern California and then took a bus to Portland, where a friend picked him up Saturday and drove him to Canby.
Mead says the friend did not notice the wound until Monday, when he saw the victim trying to remove the bullet from his chest. The friend called for help and the victim was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
The victim's name has not been released.
Mead said the investigation is still in its early stages.
