Man arrested after Vancouver road rage shooting

VANCOUVER, Wash. - A man is accused of shooting at another driver who cut him off in Vancouver Tuesday night, and police say he may have pointed his gun at other people earlier that evening.

According to police, the suspect, 25-year-old Christopher Partridge, pulled out a handgun after a woman unintentionally cut him off to make the Thurston Road exit off State Route 500 about 8 p.m.

The victim told police Partridge pulled up beside her and fired one shot into the driver's side door before speeding away. Neither she nor another passenger in her car were injured.

"It just goes to show you the state of mind of this person," Officer Brian Schaffer said.  "People aren't willing to, at the drop of a hat, pull out a gun and fire a round. It just doesn't happen often."

A witness gave police a description of the suspect's car, a white Kia, and license plate number.  Officers eventually found the vehicle parked at a northeast Vancouver home. After talking to the residents, police identified the suspect as Patridge and found the handgun still inside the car.

About an hour before the incident in Vancouver, police believe Patridge also pulled his gun on two teenagers at an Hillsboro intersection.

Partridge now faces felony charges in both Oregon and Washington.
