MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – A man on the run and accused of conning people out of their money was arrested Tuesday, the McMinnville Police Department said.

Police had been looking for 54-year-old Jerry Rosenstiel after he didn’t show up for a court appearance in Yamhill County. He was caught by Washington County sheriff’s deputies with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service after tips came in from the public about his whereabouts.

KATU has reported extensively on Rosenstiel. Last summer he was arrested at his Aurora home after police said he was part of a rental home scam on Craigslist in McMinnville.

Police said 14 people have been ripped off in the rental home scam, losing $16,000 in all.

The Oregon Department of Justice imposed a ban on Rosenstiel, telling him he could no longer do business in the state. KATU’s On Your Side Investigators have tried repeatedly to help people who say they have been conned by Rosenstiel to recover some of their money.
