Bicyclist, 47, killed in SE Portland crash

PORTLAND, Ore. – A man on a bicycle died in collision with a car Sunday night in Southeast Portland.
It happened just after 9 p.m. at Southeast Mill Street and 148th Avenue.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The bicyclist was identified Tuesday by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office as James B. Queirolo, 47, of Portland.
No other details were released.
Bicycles existed long before automobiles and will be here long after gas is to expensive for anyone to afford. Get off your hate campaign and learn to share the road. Your ulcers and blood pressure will thank you.

@HarryJuku Nice troll, but the position of resident d*ckhead has already been filled.
 @HarryJuku Troll
@HarryJuku There is no indication in the article of the cause of the accident, much less who hit whom. Please crawl back in your cave.
But wait according the the bicylist advocate that advises the city we dont need to pay attention to the cyclist no matter if they follow the law or not. It's never the cyclist fault anyway we just need to pay attention to the big bad motorists and make them responsible for everything right?
Well, I was just about right wasn't I?
Bike lanes between parked cars and moving cars is not smart. Bicyclists have to be aware of parked cars moving out, and cars already in the traffic lane.
Right. And DRIVERS have to be aware of what is going on in the bike lane.
OK, and DRIVERS have also got to be on the lookout for other drivers emerging from parallel parking spots without looking. So I guess it comes down to everyone watching out for everyone else, or in other words, be prepared for anything, by anyone, at any time!
@Mechanic ~  You and jpk are both right... it's a cooperative effort between motorized vehicles and bicycles - and also pedestrians...Â
 Amen
What happens when you combine cars and bicycles? Â This is why back East, we stay away from cars when riding our toys
@archon312 A person, a fellow human being, is dead and all you can do is bash bicycles. Sad.
@Nobody  @archon312 Because it's so predictable. The tune changes when it's not a little girl or elder.
Exactly. And there is no indication whatever in the story at this time (12:20 PM Monday) about speeds, directions, or behaviors of the bicycle and car involved.
@archon312 I've been commuting by bike for over five years. Five years of not buying gas. Five years of not paying for car insurance. Five years of no car payment. How much money have you spent on your 'not toy'? I've put all my savings into a roth 401k. Comes out to about $300 a month.Me and my toy will see you at retirement.
Well isnt that special..... its your choice not to have those things. its called freedom of choice. Like freedom to ride a bike or freedom to drive a car. If you're going to be on the road, obey "road rules". Nothing more frustrating than a bike going 10 mph, on a 45 mph road. At least be thoughtful and get out of the road.
Maybe you need a better job? Hopefully your retirement doesn't consist of eating top rawmen and rice and beans.
