Boy, 8, killed in rollover crash on I-5

ALBANY, Ore. – An 8-year-old boy was killed and his 13-year-old brother was seriously injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 5 Sunday night.
It happened in the Albany area just before 7 p.m.
State police said Willevaldo Guzman-Cruz, 53, was driving north on I-5 with his wife and four children when their Dodge Durango traveled onto the center median and rolled several times before coming to rest on its side in the southbound lanes.
8-year-old Yonic Guzman-Arango was thrown from the SUV during the crash. Police said he died at the scene.
13-year-old Mateo Guzman was seriously injured. He was taken to a hospital in Corvallis, Ore.
Police said the four other family members were injured in the crash, but none was taken to a hospital.
The survivors were all wearing seatbelts, but it's unclear if Yonic Guzman-Arango was wearing one, police said.
Police are investigating a possible tire malfunction as the cause of the crash.
I have to wonder if this was the 5 seat, or the 7 seat Durango. From the artical it says: "The survivors were all wearing seatbelts, but it's unclear if Yonic Guzman-Arango was wearing one..."

Not enough belts would explain the ejection. Just conjecture on my part. :(
Sad.
There could be all sorts of reasons why the vehicle crashed. The status of the occupants was not a contributing cause and doesn't need to be brought up here. Hope they are able to recover from their injuries.
Ah, man! I'm so sorry to hear about these children. It just wasn't the children's fault at all this happened. To have four other people injured in the accident, yet not taken to the hospital, makes me wonder if they were illegal immigrants or something.Â
 @washcomom Who cares whether or not they were illegal immigrants? Oh! That's right - petty people like you.
@washcomom "Or something"?
 @washcomom Yup because their legal status is all that matters. Gives you something to complain about.
How heartbreaking. I hope the 3 year old boy a speedy recovery. My heart goes out to the parents of these children.
 @DeaconBugg What 3 year old? They say the other one taken to hospital was 13.
@aroostooklauri @DeaconBugg originally reported as 3 y/o.
 @aroostooklauri Typo. Thank you for correcting me.
