MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Brandon Roy is starting his comeback with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the former All-Star guard has agreed to terms on a two-year, $10.4 million deal to join the Wolves next season. The person requested anonymity because the news has not been officially announced.
The former Portland guard retired before last season because of chronic knee issues. The Blazers used the amnesty clause on the remaining $63 million of Roy's deal to get his salary off of its books, but he received some treatments that prompted him to try to return.
Roy was originally drafted by the Wolves in 2006, but traded to Portland on draft night for Randy Foye.
The Oregonian first reported the agreement.

Minnesota offers Nic "all potential, no return" Batum 45M for four years and signs Roy. They are really hoping to bulid a first round exit caliber team.
another one bites the dust
I wonder what the real story is behind this. Did Portland want him out? Did he want out of Portland? Did they use the amnesty to save face and blame it on a "bad" knee?
No. Brandon Roy has two bad knees. Did you happen to notice how much basketball he missed while with the Blazers? Do you think they were keeping him out in hopes of eventually using the amnesty clause to get rid of their best (when healthy) player. I will be surprised if he ever plays more than half a season. Maybe that new procedure he had done on his knees is miraculous. We shall see.
I wish Roy the best of luck. I hope he finds his old form, sure would be nice to see the Roy of old.
Not if he's playing for the other team.
