CAMAS, Wash. - Camas police are looking for a man they said approached an elementary school student in a school hallway last Tuesday.

The man was seen around Grass Valley Elementary School in Camas during a basketball practice and school district officials said the man did not commit a crime but they are still looking for him.

The man is described as having gray hair, a long beard and tattoos of an eagle and a flame near his eye. He was wearing a New York Jets hat and a green jacket with leather sleeves. Witnesses said he was driving a blue Ford Explorer or Bronco.

Police also said no crime was committed but they want to identify the man and talk to him to find out what he was doing at the school.

School officials sent an email to parents on Thursday about the incident. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Officer Farland at (360)607-9229 or Debrah.Farland@camas.wednet.edu.

In the email, Camas School District Public Information Officer Doreen McKercher said parents should educate their children about dealing with strangers and recommended child safety websites for parents and educators.

The school is located on Grass Valley Drive not far from Lacamas Lake.
