HAZEL DELL, Wash. - Residents in a Hazel Dell home escaped injury when a car smashed into their house Friday morning.
The crash took place at about 5 a.m. when Clark County Sheriff's Deputies said a man driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant left NW 26th Avenue near 99th Street, smashed through a fence and crashed into the kitchen section of the house.
The driver, identified as William Porter, 19, of Vancouver, fled on foot but deputies said he was quickly caught and is charged with driving under the influence, minor in possession and hit-and-run.
Medical personnel checked out a baby who was in the home but no injuries were reported. Crews towed the car away from the home, which sustained some damage.
The car was also heavily damaged. Porter was taken to the Clark County Sheriff's Department.
He should make a fine contributor to society.

@feral Assualt cars should be banned. There fixed that for you!
What's with all the cars being driven into homes, stores and businesses lately? Glad they caught the driver!

Hey, 19! Welcome to the real world... enjoy the fire and brimstone, budday!
Oh look, another accident involving a car. How ironic. Must be a big coincidence.Â
 I'm sure he was just swerving to avoid hitting a cyclist. Â
Amazing how accidents involve vehicles, fights involve people, heart attacks involve hearts.. next thing you know, they'll be blaming famines on a lack of edible food.
@JGalt Â
It is amazing that anything involving a car is an "accident"; gee, it was just an accident that I left the roadway going 110 mph. Oh it was just an accident that I ran those kids over when I was texting. Oh, it was just an accident that I hit those people in the crosswalk when I didn't stop for that light......the list of "accidents" is phenomenal and the only thing they all have in common is driver negligence.Â
In my house; the only accidents are spilled milk the occasional whoops-a-daisy but crashing into your brother while riding bikes in the house doesn't count as an accident because there are rules about riding bikes in the house and they are known by all.
Well, well, well, 19, leaving scene, and DUI.... Great start there...Â

@TheUglyTruthÂ
Not much of a sports sedan ether.
@TheUglyTruth Hey -- I agree with you!
That's what they call a "sports car" now? Â A 4-door silver sedan with a spoiler? Â Woo hoo! Â I drive a sports car. Â But I'd never have that lame "O" on mine....
@Sundowner I'm gonna give you a pass on the "O" comment just cuz I like you...

@Dr. Rawdog @Pvpbw @SKVmutant I was thinking of something more like the Turfinator. after I add the tank tracks of corse.
@Sundowner @Dr. Rawdog your maiden name is Buzzkills?
@Dr. Rawdog Hey, are you making fun of my maiden name?  I guess we all have our own little cross to bear.  *sigh*
@Dr. Rawdog @SKVmutant They are all kill joys. I'm thinking about adding some tank traks to my walker.
@SKVmutant No, it says "91 year old" and his post is sarcastic :)
@Dr. Rawdog That could explain why when the driver fled on foot he was quickly caught. It's hell trying to push my walker across the lawn.
It would have been funny if the cops tased the old person, I would have liked to have seen that. Old people twitching from a taser is funny.
@dkgiovenco @Dr. Rawdog @Pvpbw What's wrong with you??  Cats twitching from a taser is funny.  Most of the time you'd be hard-pressed to tell if old people were twitching from the taser or just cuz.  OK, bring on the cat lovers!
@Pvpbw ........good one !
"Odd! I don't remember putting in a request for an early-morning wake-up call!"
