HAZEL DELL, Wash. - Residents in a Hazel Dell home escaped injury when a car smashed into their house Friday morning.

The crash took place at about 5 a.m. when Clark County Sheriff's Deputies said a man driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant left NW 26th Avenue near 99th Street, smashed through a fence and crashed into the kitchen section of the house.

The driver, identified as William Porter, 19, of Vancouver, fled on foot but deputies said he was quickly caught and is charged with driving under the influence, minor in possession and hit-and-run.

Medical personnel checked out a baby who was in the home but no injuries were reported. Crews towed the car away from the home, which sustained some damage.

The car was also heavily damaged. Porter was taken to the Clark County Sheriff's Department.
