Caregiver gets 4-year term for fraud, stealing from elderly man
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A woman who worked as a caregiver was sentenced Tuesday in Eugene to more than four years in prison for taking more than $26,000 from an elderly man.
Bimla Boyd, 56, pleaded guilty to stealing assets between March 2010 and last April. She also pleaded guilty to food stamp and welfare fraud.
A Lane County Circuit Court judge gave Boyd a longer sentence than she might have received because she was on parole at the time for a 2002 manslaughter.
The Register-Guard reports Boyd signed the title of a Eugene home and a car back over to the 85-year-old man in the courtroom.

She got 4 years and that was "a longer sentence"? She is a seriously disgusting piece of crap.
Some people must have found themselves a way to live without a conscience. I don't know if there are ever penalties available that should be given to those found guilty of such crime.
I'll never understand these crimes. Stealing is bad enough, but to steal from the elderly takes a special kind of disregard for others. What a violation of trust for this man. I hope, wish, she is never allowed to be a caregiver again.
This woman is evil....I have no doubt she's responsible for those other murders.
This person is the reason the death penalty should still be an option...any Ch. Bronson person out there would have my blessing to do our bidding when she's released....if caught you could always blame the presnidone!
if you are going to have temp help set up a camera in every room and take all your valuables to a bank vault like checks, jewelry and important papers. Good Luck!
Everyone's so quick to get a registry going for sex offenders that no one cares about the violent criminals. There's a roofing company who employs an individual who was convicted of a double homicide. Said individual can go to your house, spend the day on your roof, etc etc. But hey, it's ok, sex offenders are more to be concerned about than murderers.
I am glad that my family is caring for Step Dad's biological mother (Yes I have to sets of families, one Biological and one of legal adoption) But at least my step Dad's Mother is being well cared for.
She should be getting more then 4 years, she should be getting life.
manslaughter/caregiver??? How does that happen???????? Sure hope that is being looked into!
@Kim Jones  Ya, this is what I have been worried about. My mother will be having hip replacement soon and I will need to bring someone in when I am at work to care for her. How do I know I'm not going to get some ax murderer in there that will be a bad match. I thought about setting up a camera someplace, but that seems a bit to paranoid, but it's my home and my mother. I think it won't be as bad as this poor man, because I will be home every night with her. But I still worry
http://www.katu.com/news/local/83992527.html  More on Bimla Boyd. A very dangerous woman.Â
@KKStJohn Sounds like she should be in prison for murder.
How in the hell does someone on parole for manslaughter become a caregiver??? Â I have worked for agencies that hire caregivers and there are some very strict background checks and rules! Â If this was a private hire - let it be a warning! Â This type of crime is appalling. Â
@BCH mom This woman needs to be thoroughly investigated for past crimes. She's scary! And, yes, many families do NOT do background checks on caregivers. It should be mandatory.Â
Bimla Boyd is BAD! More crimes:Â http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2012/04/bimla_boyd_witness_in_botched.html
