Town Center victim Cindy Yuille remembered at service

PORTLAND, Ore. - Friends and family gathered Friday afternoon in Northwest Portland to celebrate the life of Cindy Yuille, one of two people who were killed at the Clackamas Town Center when a gunman stormed the mall.
"We've always believed things happen for a reason - whatever it is," her husband, Robert Yuille, said. "Things happen for a reason. We just have to figure out why. We just have to figure out why this had to happen to us now."
"The only way I've been able to deal with it is to realize that it was totally random," he added. "He didn't shoot her - he just shot. He was just shooting."
Yuille was a hospice nurse for Kaiser Permanente. She leaves behind not only her husband, but a daughter and stepson.
"If there ever was an incredible mom, it was mine," her daughter, Jenna Passalacqua, said during the service. "To Robert - I want you to know how completely happy you made her. The two of you showed me what it was to have a healthy relationship and a happy marriage. I want you to know how much she loved and cared about you."
"I certainly was not ready to lose her but I am honored to be the daughter of such an incredible woman," she also said. "And I will never forget who she taught me to be."
Yuille loved the outdoors and was described as having a soul so kind that she couldn't kill a spider. Those who knew her said she was someone who didn't take herself too seriously, and laughed at every chance. In her memory, the flags outside the service were flown at half staff.
About the Shooting
The deadly shooting at the Clackamas Town Center happened Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Investigators say 22-year-old Jacob Roberts, carrying an AR-15 rifle and wearing a hockey mask, made his way through the mall shooting at customers and employees before finally turning the gun on himself.
Cindy Yuille, 54, and Steve Forsyth, 45, were shot dead before Roberts killed himself. A 15-year-old girl, Kristina Shevchenko, was badly injured but has since recovered.
You are an angel in heaven now. Rest in the arms of the LORD. Your family and friends spoke very highly of you. You must have been a wonderful person on earth. Although I didn't know you, I will pray for your family and friends to have the strength to deal with your passing. Rest in Peace, Cindy.
She seems to be in the top 1% of all human beings. What a tragic loss for her family. RIP, Cindy.
First - I'm so sorry for Robert Yuille's loss. Â Cindy sounds like a great person.

Second - Again with the name of the shooter. Â Why are talking about this POS in the same story which is supposed to be about the memorial for Cindy Yuille? Â All this fame that these dirtbags get only fans the flames. Â Shame on KATU for contributing. Â Once the information is published about the criminals, they should not be mentioned by name again. Â The victims should be household names not the other way around. Â
