City floats idea of closing restrooms at parks in favor of porta potties

PORTLAND, Ore. - Next spring or summer when you take your kids to a park in Portland, you may find you have to also take them inside a porta potty.

That's because the City of Portland is considering closing park restrooms and replacing them with porta potties in an effort to shave $770,000 from the next two-year budget.

A city panel heard about the idea on Wednesday but nothing will be decided before a public hearing on Jan. 9.
