Coast Guard member charged with rape
COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) — North Bend police arrested a member of the U.S. Coast Guard who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The World newspaper of Coos Bay reports that 20-year-old Luke Kanada of North Bend was conditionally released from jail Thursday after being charged with third-degree rape and other crimes.
Police say the charges stem from a relationship Kanada and the girl had this summer.
Kanada's arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
If we put every guy who has had sex with a 15 year old in jail more than half the guys in High School would be incarcerated. 20 is a bit old but on the other hand I will bet she originally told him she was older and then the truth after it was too late. Too bad to ruin his life over this.
How HORRIBLE for this girl to hook-up with the ONLY guy in town that has a High School Diploma & Tech Training, a Good Job and IS NOT a felon or strung-out on METH...
With what the State & Military will do to him....HE WILL BE a felon & strung-out on Meth REAL SOON, and UNEMPLOYABLE for life...!

I think we have gone a bit overboard on the age limits for things. 15 - 20 isn't a huge gap, I'm not saying it should be legal, but you shouldn't be labeled as a sex offender and rapist with your picture blasted across the web for it.
It is not the age gap. but the age limit. And it is also the law in more than one way. Until the civil law is changed, people need to abide by them. As far as military, that is something else also.

maybe he didnt know she was 15. Lots of young girls look older than they are. Are you supposed to ask for ID first..What 15 year old has ID
