Cold snap takes toll on area

TROUTDALE, Ore- As if the Christmas carolers strolling through town don't help set the mood enough, the frigid temperatures really had it feeling like the holidays in Troutdale.

The Fireside Carolers come down from Portland every year for the big tree lighting, entertaining fans of all ages.

They're usually ready for the wind but weren't betting on 20 degree temperatures.

"Well it's cool to us I'll tell you,," said Martin Brother of the Fireside Carolers.

But the cold snap is just fine with retailers like the Oregon Mountain Company. They saw business pick up as the mercury continued to drop.

"We have had some people come in to get warm jackets because they weren't prepared. It's early in the season," said Mars Adams.

But a little wind wasn't about to stop the carolers from kicking off another holiday season to remember.

"It's nice when you can move people like that and help them feel the spirit of the holiday it's fun for us," said Brother.
