Cops win shootout with Eugene man wielding paintball gun
EUGENE, Ore. - An "intoxicated and out of control" man fired 50 paintball rounds at police during a 30 minute standoff Sunday evening, the Eugene Police Department said.
As police arrived to a report of a disorderly subject at 5:30 p.m. in the 800 block of W. 4th Avenue, 49-year-old Mitchell Levi Ellingson opened fire with a paintball gun, police said.
Ellingson fired at the officer's heads and upper torsos and managed to hit two officers as he yelled threats at them from his porch and front door.
Police used negotiations and "less-than-lethal" munitions to take Ellingson into custody without anyone being injured.
Ellingson was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation and later booked into the jail on charges of assault on a public safety officer, third degree attempted assault, domestic violence, disorderly conduct and reckless endangering.
I'll bet the cops beaned him with a bean bag, what fun!
Domestic violence was one of the charges against him too. He's a nut job. If he'd had a real gun somebody would be dead. Lock him up.Â
Don't need any kind of gun to get shot by the cops. Just gotta be high on LSD. Just ask BarbWire; she'd have shot him herself!
Damn! Good thing he was in Eugene! ha ha ha ha The police were definately level headed! But, I'd still choose this guy for my paintball team, any day!

Being a person who paintballs, he should have used the paint balls fresh out of the refrigerator, they sting alot more then warm ones......

They should add bad aim to the list of charges.
 @Kushfan eh he by passed bullet proof armor 1 head shot and one above the vest shot..would equal to 2 dead officers had this been a real shoot out and also probably 1 dead suspect.

 @Agent Sydney Bristow My wife knows a guy who got his eye blown out by a random paintball. That must have hurt. In Eugene and Corvallis, by the way, a paintball gun is considered a firearm. I learned that 'un the hard way.

I would hope the police were able to win the shootout with him. He needs to perhaps cut back on the booze? He is lucky someone did not accidently load a live round and send his direction.
