FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Firefighters are battling a two-alarm house fire in Forest Grove Wednesday morning.
The fire started just before 6:30 a.m. at a two-story house in the 2100 block of 17th Avenue.
Crews called for more resources with a second alarm after they arrived.
Forest Grove Fire spokesman Matt Johnston told KATU that the cold weather made fighting the fire difficult for crews at the scene, so they called for more firefighters.
Johnston said the house was cluttered inside.
The home was built in 1872, according to Forest Grove Fire. It was built with older construction techniques that allowed the fire to spread easily through the walls.
It took 45 minutes for firefighters to knock down the fire. It's unclear what caused the fire.
The homeowner told KATU no one was inside during the fire, but she's worried about her two cats.
