PORTLAND, Ore. – Firefighters put out a house fire in North Portland early Thursday morning.

Crews had to rescue one firefighter from the home’s basement after he became disoriented and couldn’t find the stairwell, Portland Fire and Rescue Spokesman Lt. Rich Chatman said.

No one was hurt.

Someone called 911 early Thursday morning after seeing smoke coming from the windows and roof of the home, located at 8025 North Hudson Avenue, Chatman said.

The fire started in the basement. It’s unclear what caused the fire.
