DUII suspect arrested, accused of firing gunshot in NE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested a Portland man who they said was driving drunk and fired a gunshot in Northeast Portland Saturday night.
Officers responded to a report of a gunshot near Northeast 82nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard just after 9:30 p.m., police said.
Police saw a car speeding northbound on 82nd and pulled the driver over.
The driver, 29-year-old Tyler Kahnert, had an open container of alcohol in his car, police said. Officers also found a handgun, a spent shell casing and a baggie of marijuana in the car.
Kahnert was taken to the Multnomah County Jail. He faces charges of DUII, reckless driving, carrying a concealed weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and delivery of marijuana.
He was also driving with a suspended license and had no insurance, police said.
He should be deported...what..er...D'OH !
Surprised?
Live close by...heard a couple of pops...my dog was a bit upset as well...between the sirens every night and the pops every night, I sometimes think and feel like I live in a war zone...I do live in a war zone...sure wasn't like this when I was a kid...oh...and taxpayers, don't you think the top 1% ought to pitch in and pay for some of the programs needed to curb these issues...oh...that's right...they don't live in my neighborhood so they don't really understand the issues so wouldn't have the incentive to help with the programs  Â
The top 1%, as you identify them, were brought up differently than those in whose neighborhood you choose to live!
WHITE SHIRT! I knew I couldn't trust people in white shirts.. .
 @OliverNicholas What's that mean...WHITE SHIRT
he was probably getting some dome LOL
I don't know why, but katu's use of the word "baggie" made me chuckle...
DUII, random violence, and NE Portland makes the news once again.
Beer is a gate-way drug! This story is proof! ];->
What a looser, throw the book at him.....
Stupid is as stupid does.
@pdxracefan Wow, that was hilarious! No one has ever said that on this forum before. How clever!!
 @badcat "Life isn't like a box of chocolates . . . . .  It's much more like a jar of jalepinos--you'll never know which one will burn your ass off!"
Anywhere on 82nd you could see this happen. Why doesn't it get patrolled more? I would wait for the bus at 82nd and Powell at 12am 5-6 nights a week after I got off work. It was nothing but Johns, Hookers, and tweekers running around like their hair was set on fire. It was really sad and disgusting to see. I lived near 82nd ave MAX and that stop was bad too. You could buy pot any day of the week and if you turned them down, they would get an attitude with you.. I'm so glad I live in a better area now. I don't even go to the part of town anymore. It's very bleak.
 @PDXBEAR ". . . nothing but Johns, Hookers, and tweekers running around . . ."

And usually the three types are very hard to tell apart!
another one that fell through the cracks. we are all guilty of letting him down. we need more programs so society will stop forcing folks on the brink of personal collapse to resort to criminal behavior. tax payers will have to start doing their share, and stop pretending the the threat is simply a drug dealer with a gun.  /sarcasm/
"'Tis the season...."

Sounds like he was trying to set a record.
@scared_citizen And probably released on recog as there is no room at the Inn for him!
@scared_citizen Perhaps he should get a trophy? I'm sure at his age he's gotten one for everything he's done, or not done in life! He'll just get diversion, plead he feared something, and end up with only a possesion charge, and if less than an ounce, is only a misdemeanor.
What a nut case.Â
