Deputies: Suspect crashes stolen RV through gate

NEAR AMITY, Ore. - Yamhill County Sheriff's deputies are on the lookout for a stolen vehicle that shouldn't be hard to miss: a 30-foot long motor home.
Deputies said the Allegro RV was stolen from a storage facility on Highway 99 West near Amity on Wednesday and whoever was behind the wheel crashed the $116,000 RV through a gate to get out of the storage lot.
They said the big motor home likely has front-end damage and Oregon plates reading HC27017. Amity is located northwest of Salem.
If anyone spots the stolen RV, deputies ask that they call the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office at 503-434-6500 and refer to case number 13-0311.
Kind of hard to hide something that size...."Say, is that an RV in your shed, or are you just happy to see me?"
Mama just upgraded her singlewide it looks like....
LOL at this story
With gas as expensive as it is - start posting some LE agencies in a 250 mile radius. They only get about 6-10 miles to the gallon.Â
 @washcomom depends on the size of the fuel tank and if it were empty or full.Â
 @washcomom Mine with mainly non hill driving is 800 miles.
 @RandyH Non-hill area is one thing. That area has many twists and turns, as well as going up and down hills, so gas will be guzzled at a faster rate.Â
Out of curiosity - what kind do you have?Â
 @washcomom You show me yours and I'll show you . . .
Â
. . . my neighbor's! ];->
Suppose that's one way to get a swank mobile meth lab.
30 foot. That should house at least 15-20 illegals.
Ya know.... On my list of 'best possible getaway vehicles', a 30' RV isn't very high on the list.Â
Â
They have to be heading for the hills with it. With front end damage from going through the fence, it's going to be pretty hard to be discreet on surface streets. Some freeloaders taking it up to the coast range for free room and board while they watch their grow operation.
 @MarkKpic Or the Mt Hood National Forest.The end of Wildcat Mountain Drive would be a good place to check.
This thing is big enough to be an "assault" RV, complete with a high capacity magazine, should I say with a hugh capacity for people?
 Yamhill County Sheriff's deputies are on the lookout for a stolen vehicle that should be hard to miss: a 30-foot long motor home.  "should be hard to miss:"   shouldn't
Should. A 30-foot long vehicle *should* be hard to *miss*. As in, you'd have to actively avoid looking at larger vehicles to miss it.
Probably going to trade it for drugs....or better yet, try to scrap it for money.
must be someone wanted no cost vacation or a new home. most likely won't pay for the fuel either.
Â
Too bad they likely can't drive it far because it takes over $300 worth the gas to drive it for a whole day!
 @portlandborn83 It could be a diesel.
It would probably work well as a base of operations for a grow site or remote lab. Whoever did it, though, can't be up to any good.
Tweakers.
