Deputies arrest son for ax attack on father in Roseburg
ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) - An attempted murder charge has been filed against a Roseburg man accused of hitting his 73-year-old father in the head with an ax.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Hunter Goldberg was arrested Wednesday after his mother called 9-1-1 to report that she was driving her injured husband to Mercy Medical Center.
The victim, Josiah Goldberg, told deputies at the hospital that he was sitting in his living room when son entered the room and hit him several times in the head.
The father told deputies he fought back and grabbed the ax away from his son.
Deputies went to the home and arrested Hunter Goldberg without incident.
Josiah Goldberg was released from the hospital after receiving treatment for severe facial lacerations.

Yikes again! It's a wild, wild, wild world. Evil people abound. Wow and the 73 year old man survived. Congratulations in successfully fighting off being murdered. 24 year old with anger/mental issues.
Did someone say to him..."Why don't you go ax your dad if you can go?"
Â
Kids these days...

@I812 --- cutting comments.
 @I812 That was his plan all along.
Go Dad! 73 year old takes an axe away from a 24 year old after being hit in the head several times with it?  I Hope he makes a full recovery and his son enjoys his time in jail learning new skills
Maybe this nut job used an ax because his responsible parents didn't keep a gun where he could get to it. Might be why the dad is still alive. Just a thought, but I would love to know if there was a gun on premises.
 @ormom Oh, yeah...let's make it into something it's not, shall we.
Â
 @ormom None sense.
Maybe Shepherd Obama should ban axes too...
 @Educated Educated??? LMAO!!!
 @Mikey  @Educated Maybe you can explain where you were educated as to the subtle nuances between TWO question marks, and three. Is that like stripes on a sergeant, where after a certain amount of education you get to add extraneous punctuation marks while you're insulting other people's educations? Or are you just a d--k?

You would be too dumb to know.

@Dr. Rawdog --- i'm guessing he is no Lizzie Borden with an axe. He must be some wimp to have a 73 year old injured man take his axe away. If you ax me, I think Dad should have beat him senseless with the axe handle.
 @Dr. Rawdog Couldn't wait to exploit that for gun-ban purposes, could you?  Here, let my rub your nose in it:
Â
Why doesn't Feinstein equip her California school security with axes instead of AR-15s? Sorry if I just monkeywrenched your reality but your ideological leaders carry pistols and "military-style assault weapons", not axes.Â

 @Playanekes  @Dr. Rawdog It doesn't matter, soon the angry white men brigade will be a minority. Suck on that, tosser.
 @Dr. Rawdog *shrug*  Challenge it all you want. I support your First Amendment right as strongly as your Second. But you're not going to get anywhere because thanks to the likes of Harry Juku and Diane Feinstein, I joined the NRA recently, for the first time, and all kinds of people like me are going to vote against any and every liberal politician who supports the Feinstein/Obama plan, and probably against all Democrats anyway just to make sure they get their hands slapped too.Is the "ridiculousness" here as bad as raping a secret gun ban bill through New York legislature so quickly that you forgot to exempt your own cops and security guards?Is the ridiculousness here as bad as Feinstein saying that AR-15s are only used to commit mass murder, while security guards are being trained to carry them at schools in her own state? That's what's not going unchallenged here.
Seems to me he's about at the age when many fall victim to paranoid schizophrenia. Â Not sure that's the case, but he DOES have a fairly interesting criminal background. Â http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2012/01/roseburg_man_accused_in_goat_s.htmlÂ
 @Sundowner Oh, I remember that guy. So, dad was his next potential sacrifice then? I sure hope they can put this kid away for a long time.
 @medborgare  @Sundowner I wonder if he was one of those ungrateful brats who refers to his dad as "That Old Goat!"
 @Mikey Not sure, but he's changed his look since his last booking pic....he's sporting a goatee now.  http://img.timeinc.net/time/photoessays/2008/goats/goats_01.jpg.  Sorry, couldn't resist.
 @medborgare "He ain't right", to quote a friend.  http://cdn3.blogs.babble.com/babble-voices/alli-worthington-this-is-alli/files/2012/10/medium_goat-boy.jpg
Gosh, "severe facial lacerations" and he was released from the ER? Seems like Josiah was a pretty spry individual to get whacked in the head several times and then was still able to overcome his son. I wonder what led up to this attack?
I wonder if the police ax'd him a lot of questions.
Good, Ralph. But shouldn't it be "ax'ed"?
 @jpk Pretty sure it's axed.
 @Pointblank  @jpkÂ
I think it should be asked. But that would be my mother talking who was an English major.
@RalphCramden ahhhhhhhh hhahhahahahhahahaha
There goes his inheritance....and it was SO CLOSE!
This Lizzy Borden wanna-be needs to spend several years in the State mental facility. I have a hard time comprehending how a person could hit someone with an ax, especially your own Dad!
 @Pointblank I'm sure there are more than a few "dads" who deserve worse, but given his history, it seems he needs some serious medication and a confined space in which to stay.
 @Mikey Confined space like a pen?  GoatBoy has some serious issues but I still can't wrap my head around a 74-year old man even having a 'child' this age and having to house/feed his sorry butt.  Shouldda kicked him to the curb after the goat incident.  And at this point I question if "sacrifice" was all he had planned for the goat?
