Deputies detain man on Hwy 26 after chase
BEAVERTON, Ore. – Washington County sheriff’s deputies detained a man who they said led them on a high speed chase, crashed twice and injured a toddler Saturday afternoon.
According to Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Thompson, deputies responded to a domestic dispute and were told Leonel Zamora, Jr., who had left the scene, might return. Witnesses told deputies they were concerned the man was high on drugs.
A deputy who stayed in the area spotted Zamora driving by the house, Thompson said.
Zamora sped away when the deputy tried to make a traffic stop just after 2 p.m. He drove westbound on Canyon Road and crashed into a car near 110th Avenue, but continued to drive, Thompson said.
Zamora led deputies onto Highway 26, where he crashed into another car near the interchange with Highway 217. A two-year-old girl was injured in the crash.
The girl was taken to a hospital where she is expected to survive, Thompson said.
Zamora got out of his car and ran across the highway. He continued to run across MAX tracks and climbed over a fence and into an office park.
A deputy caught Zamora and detained him.
He was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Highway 26 fully reopened to traffic after 4 p.m.

Why couldn't those unspecified injuries have been Fatal Gunshot wounds, this animal needs to be locked away from the rest of society for the rest of his miserable life.
Glad the little girl is going to be ok. I'm sure her parents are kinda freaking out about the accident.Â

 @HarryJuku A majority of stuff, but in this case - it is definitely justified as the perp hit their car, and the girl was seriously hurt. Nobody ever expects to have their child hurt while in their care and while in the car on the freeway.

Sounds like more of our "immigrant" problems. It doesn't say they arrested him, but he was "detained". The people who stream into Oregon illegally are told two things: Claim you don't speak English, and, vote for the democrat. This explains pretty much everything that's wrong with this state

The best example I can give is parents complained because the kids were given homework and it was cutting into their social life....So the education system can only be as good as parents allow it to be....curious are you one of those parents who doesn't like your child to have homework because it interferes with yours and their social activities? volunteer at their school? My parents did and both of them worked full-time...took the time for our education.  I believe 2 cents was not questioning your heritage but was questioning your State origin of Birth. Home is where you lay your hat and Dorothy learned that in the Wizard of Oz.

@my2cents @xilef regnu there was nothing in the article about how serious the crash was...perhaps it was a side hit on the passenger door...the child is right next to it. Child seats do NOT protect from EVERY crash!
@flyingtime So true. It's not like a forcefield goes up when your kid is put in one. Flying glass from broken windows is not stopped, or stuff in the car can be flying around, a thousand things can go wrong no matter how good your safety seat is, especialy when some drunk tard runs into you.
