Deputies investigating suspicious man at Sublimity Elementary School

SUBLIMITY, Ore. -- Sheriff's deputies are investigating an unidentified man who was trying to coerce children into his car at Sublimity Elementary School on Thursday morning.
Marion County sheriff's deputies responded to the school in Sublimity just before noon. School officials said the man, who was driving a dark green 1990s Toyota Camry, approached several school-aged children who were playing in the school's playground.
The man apparently tried to coax the children to his car by showing them a soccer ball and asking if it belonged to them, according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
A nearby teaching assistant, believing the situation appeared suspicious, approached the car and the man sped off.
The suspect is described as having salt-and-pepper-colored hair with a beard. He was wearing glasses and a baseball hat.
The school's principal notified the parents of the children involved and also sent a notice to all parents of the school, alerting them to the situation.
Deputies said the school will boost security and give children additional instructions on safety precautions.
If you have information about this case, please call Deputy Bangs at 503-932-3244.
I am from scio and it is like 20 miles from sublimity. Sublimity is not a big town and most likely the school doesn't have enough money to fund cameras around the school. Not a lot of bad things like this happen in the area so cameras are not important. That doesn't mean they are spending their money to fund soccer fields and sidewalks. The money is going to more important stuff. Next important thing on the list will probably be cameras around the school.

Match??
This is the reason Kyron is still missing. Because we have to get bike lanes and sidewalks and soccer parks built, we can no not afford to spend money on survelance cameras in schools.
if Family Guy taught me anything it's that all old guys cruising around schools and playgrounds are pervs.
Why aren't there video cameras that get cars coming and going?
@RalphCramden Because Sublimity is a town of 2500 and doesn't have the budget for it.
 @RamsesthegreatÂ
They get the same money from the state as every other school district. Plus cameras are pretty cheap these days.
This type of thing won't happen in Maricopa County! Go Sheriff Joe!
Great! Can our children please get through a day without being unnecessarily endangered? So SICK of FREAKS! Oh, I'm sorry, allow me to rephrase that. I'm concerned about our children. There's so many helpless and mentally ill people that we've failed to care for. Now they're suffering, and hurting people, the poor souls. Shame on us, we need to do better. Blah-Blah..Belch!
The man was simply exercising his rights of driving about town with a soccer ball.
I think I know who they are looking for!

"Deputies said the school will boost security..."Â Does this include arming a teacher or two?
