Deputies search for deputy impersonator in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, Ore. – Sheriff’s deputies are warning residents of someone who is impersonating a deputy while trying to collect unpaid traffic fines.

Sheriff's deputies have responded to a least three complaints of an unknown person or persons representing themselves as Marion County deputies. The person claims to be collecting unpaid traffic fines and then requests the victim to place money on a prepaid Visa card to resolve the fine.

The Sheriff's office said this is not the correct procedure for the collection of fines in Marion County and the person calling is not a deputy sheriff.
