@August100 Because even if they were drunk, they deserve to be run over?  Many of your posts seem to have a negative alcohol theme.  Perhaps you should address your own bias rather than slandering people you probably have never met.
Were they tested for DRUG & ALCOHOL ABUSE?
.
I sure hope he wasn't targeted because of his occupation!
I've been to Mexico before. There isn't enough tea in China, or whiskey in Ireland to make me go back -Â *ever.* I've been to Gaza - it was much, much better (even with the bombings.)
Sad to hear. I wish them both a full and speedy recovery.
I wish them well and hope they have a speedy recovery. Â For those of you saying things like "who would vacation in Mexico, I have been to Cabo many times and never had a problem. Â Most recently in July. Â I and everyone I know who has been there has always hated the thought of having to leave and come home. Â It is a great place. Â Like any other country, there are certainly places to avoid and places that have higher violence and crime rates, but how is that any different than right here in Oregon or the U.S. for that matter? Â It is safe despite the media coverage that would have you believe otherwise. Â Please think before you post. Â Google Cabo san lucas and click news. Â The biggest news story usually is some movie star sighting on the beach there. Â There have been like two or three violent news stories since I've been going for 7 years. Â I can't speak about other parts of Mexico, but I can assure you, like the U.S, not all parts are bad.
@Cooper97060  I have also spent much time in various places in Mexico. The only problem we ever had was when some white ass punk (there with his buddies for a bachelor party) slipped some drug in my daughters beer.
@wondering Proof that we are our own worst enemy.  They are a very welcoming people in Mexico and if people would just take the time to do a little research before assuming that the entire country is bad based on isolated incidents in well known crime areas, they would seem a little more intelligent.  New York city is awful, doesn't mean the U.S. is as a whole bad.  Sheesh, it amazes me how pea brained some people are and as a Cabo fan, I just can't understand their small minds I guess.
@Cooper97060 To be fair, there are parts of Mexico that are troublesome but that has also varied over the years. Ciuadad Juarez, for example, has had a really violent history. And I accidentally visited it once -- back when college students from the US kept disappearing and many were found murdered (accidentally visited = traveled across the border because I couldn't get off of the stupid US road directing traffic there!). Nogales, Mexico isn't too much better but the crime rate isn't nearly as high as Juarez.
Â
On the other hand, I've traveled to other parts of Mexico and have had a nice time. Getting a bit out of the tourist path, my husband and I went into a Walmart-like store (we didn't quite know what we were getting into but were exploring and didn't want to step foot in Senor Frog's) and had a great conversation with the man in front of us who invited us back to his home. We politely declined because our schedule didn't allow it but we didn't feel afraid.
Â
Bottom line -- no matter where you're traveling you simply need to be aware of yourself and your surroundings. Americans have this annoying habit of thinking (a) they're untouchable and (b) the laws in other places are the same, if not better, than US laws. Absolutely not true!
I wish them both a speedy recovery. It would be scary to be in that situation and be in a foreign country.Â

@justburg Who is being mean? Looks to me like there are a lot of well wishes on here. I go to Cabo often as well and drive on the roads. If you drive like they do, you'll have no problem. I'm no more scared down there then with the crazies in the US. Heck, Seattle traffic scares me more then Cabo. Chill out, no one is wishing these people anything but a speedy recovery.
Than. Not "then."
@Mechanic  @leapfroggerMy comment was meant sarcastically. Ever hear of a typo? I'm sorry you have nothing better to do with your time. I don't have to justify myself to you. So take your superiority complex and stuff it.
@leapfrogger You really don't know the difference, do you?
 @Mechanic Really???Â
$5 says the driver was a drunk American on vacation... ;)
Â
In all seriousness, I agree with the others here. I wish them both a speedy recovery and quick return back home. They have two things going for them -- they're both young and look like they're in good health. Hopefully that works in their favor to get them home soon.
Why would ANYONE vacation in Mexico?
@Mechanic Cabo San Lucas is a blast! Los Cabos is a bit more laid back. The weather is great. There are lots of great restaurants. The night life is so much fun and doesn't stop at 2am like in the states. Pretty much every night of the week there is a bar somewhere that women drink for free---what's not to like about that? Fishing is world famous. The water is beautiful. Beach party every day. I can't speak for anywhere else in Mexico and most places I wouldn't go but Cabo San Lucas is one place I will go back to over & over again.
Well, heck. Why would you go anyplace else, then? Where else could you get run over, caught in a gun battle, blown to pieces, or beheaded and left in the desert? Afghanistan, I guess, but Mexico is so much closer.
@EnoughAlready Damn straight. Who would vacation in Detroit? Get real.
@Mechanic Just about anywhere in America. How many people have been hit in Portland in just the last two weeks? Blown to pieces? Yeah, does the recent gas main explosions in Indy & Cali sound familiar? Beheaded? Well, you have me on that for current events but there are certainly numerous killers that have dismembered their victims right here in the good ole' United States! So to say the US is any less dangerous than Mexico is naive.Â
Their murder rate for all of Mexico is 12 per 100,000, Detroit's is 47, Baltimore 43.3, I guess you should avoid most US cities as well.
Wow, that's too bad. Hope they recover quickly. That would suck to have that happen in foreign country during a vacation.
They were hit at night, and I can tell you that drivers in Mexico don't like to use their headlights much. Also - very, very little street lighting no matter where you are.
Â
I hope they both have a safe and speedy recovery.Â
Hawaii sounds real good right about now.......what sharks? Never mind.
Oh what an awful thing to happen, especially on vacation..! Â Â Very best thoughts and wishes for complete recoveries to both of these people..! Â Â
So sad that they were injured. Hope they both fully recover. Note to those traveling outside the US...CARS get the right-of-way.  Not like here where pedstrians think they own the roads.
How horrible and sad. Probably a well-earned vacation they were looking forward to, and romantic besides.
I hope they find out how the hell it happened. Wishing them the strength to heal together quickly.
Terrible news. Quick recovery to a lovely couple.
Get well soon!
That's a bummer. Honestly though I couldn't imagine wanting to vacation in Mexican considering all that is happening down there right now.
@Jamie Been to Cabo half a dozen times and the only problem I've ever had is recovering from the previous night of dancing & drinking. Great place to vacation. They do drive a little crazy down there though. Hope the couple recovers quickly.
@leapfrogger  @Jamie I too have been to Cabo many times (7 to be exact) and it is safer there than in our area.  I can't stand closed mindedness.  There was a murder in Portland recently, maybe we should all move out of the U.S.?
