Did owner of vicious pit bull pull switcheroo on animal control?
LONGVIEW, Wash. -- The owner of a vicious pit bull that attacked a little boy two weeks ago said she has finally turned the dog over to animal control officials.
The controversy is far from over, though, because questions still remain as to if the owner actually turned the dogs over.
The dog bit a 5-year-old neighbor boy recently and that boy lost a large part of his right leg in the attack. The boy also had to get a pair of rabies shots.
The description of the dog -- a grey and white pit bull -- loosely fits the same dog that has now bitten four people. That description is causing some confusion as to whether the dog that bit the boy is the same one who was turned over to animal control officials.
Figuring out the conundrum is Cowlitz County Animal Control Officer Mike Nicholson. He sees several pit bulls while he works. Some have to be kenneled away from the general population, which is the case of Lexi, the pregnant dog at the center of the controversy.
In late-August, the owner of the dog was asked why she would not give the dog to animal control so it could be tested for rabies. One man who was bitten by Lexi in April was asked if this was the correct dog. The man was adamant that the dog that bit him and Lexi were different dogs. A dozen neighbors were in agreement, as well.
One reason why people are so sure that Lexi is not the dog that bit the boy was because of her timid nature. Neighbors said the real dog definitely would have attacked. Now neighbors are trying to find out who this dog really belongs to.
"She tried to make us think this is the right dog," Nicholson said, referring to the dog's owner Kim Vasquez. "From my documentation that I have from my prior visit in April, this is not the dog."
But where's the real Lexi?
"I gave the dog to them to prove she didn't have rabies," Vasquez said, referring to animal control officials. "I'm complying with all of the laws. I'm getting insurance. I've gotten a kennel."
Vasquez and her son Nicholas showed pictures of a grey and white pit bull, reiterating that it's the same one at animal control and that it is, in fact, Lexi.
Nicholson said he's not going to give up until the right dog is in possession of animal control and he's got some backup. The Cowlitz County prosecutor's office now has reports that recommend Vasquez be charged with forging rabies records for the pit bull.
Vasquez has served time in prison for forgery and said she does not want to return to prison.
This is in response to Ms. Vasquez's Facebook post as she is to cowardly to allow responses on her page. Ms. Vasquez you really should stop posting on your Facebook book page (kimberly.vasquez.566). Your illiterate ramblings do not help your case. First of all stop bragging about being "crime free" since 2005. You forged vaccination records and probably committed fraud by handing in the wrong dog. Little hint, a dog doesn't go from being pregnant to being in heat in the span of a week genius. Oh, and I've been crime free since...my entire life! Secondly, stop trying to deflect your own irresponsible, criminal, and evil behavior on to some other degenerate you allowed to live in your home. Third, take responsibility for your dogs behavior. Chaining a dog makes them territorial and aggressive, not opinion, fact. And even if you didn't "make her vicious" I don't believe you saw no warning signs. Such as, I don't know, your dog biting another person a few months before she chewed up a little boy. I have a dog that has never shown signs of aggressive behavior, but I acknowledge that I have a large who is capable of inflicting severe damage if he chose to and I supervise him carefully. Finally, and most importantly, stop playing the damn victim. There is a little boy in pain and a family with medical bills because of it. No body
sympathizes with you.
Â
Also..."witnessed" not "witneesd", "little" not "littlte", "all" not "alll", "I've" not "ive", and "April" is capitalized.
If they have a picture of the dog that is Lexi and it matches the one in custody, then some one just out to get pit bulls and give them a bad name. They will never find the real dog that attacked the person. Also there is a "Blue Nose " pit bull in my area, she shows no signs of aggression.
interesting note to Windows 8 users, it seems that the Program likes to down load the videos instead of playing them?
Wow you would think they could put her in jail by now for all the lies she has told.

@Solipsist01 Loved that show as a kid
I think that Because Kim and her Son were exposed to this same Dog they should be started on the rabies treatments right away, Just for safetys sake. Keep doing the treatments until they turn over the REAL dog and it can be tested.
wonder how much jail-time one gets for "forging rabies documents"... that might have been something to include in the news story...these people are trash, the short, little, wanna-be, bald  "gangsta" had me cracking up.... what a bunch of cockroaches! Let's deport them (whether their legal or not)!
Maybe they should put Kim Vasquez and her son in jail for all the BS they've been pulling. Perhaps if they have to sit in jail for a while, they'll produce the dog that bit 2 people. They are simply awful people and shouldn't be allowed to live in our society.
@QuandoQuandoQuando Not only put them in a jail cell but put them in a jail cell with a known vicious Pit Bull that has not had their rabies shots. Now that in my opinion would be justice.Â
Â
@QuandoQuandoQuando  OK this is totally off topic but all day yesterday I had that song from The Blues Brothers stuck in my head!  Dime quando to veras!... dime quando quando quando!!  AND, thanks to reading these comments it's cemented back in my brain!  lol.
Why don't they just throw this POS dog owner in jail and let her sit and think about it for a while. Â There is no way this should have been dragged out this long. Â Her failure to comply and turn the dog over and then hide the same animal should be grounds for obstruction.
Ask them who their vet is and compare this dog to the one the vet has on record. All dogs and cats should be photographed by the Animal Control Office when they register them with the county. All my cats have chips!
@Francis Vandervelden you really think these are the type of human garbage who would "waste money on a vet", as opposed to buying some more dope? Not likely ...
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but for me that was one confusing news article.
The way this case is being handled is absolutely deplorable! That dog should have been seized immediately. But now the case workers drag their feet and allow this "hag" to constantly jerk their chains by not handing over the correct dog. She should be held in contempt and thrown in the slammer until she truthfully agrees to truly hand over the correct dog. She should also be fined $500 each and every day the correct dog is not handed over and that fine should be strictly enforced.
Yep, she did.
This dog is not pregnant nor has she been nursing a litter. If she was just pregnant her nipples whould have increased in size.
Â
Bring this lying old hag into cout at once.
@Leinenkugle's I thought the same thing when I saw the above photo.
@Leinenkugle's That is exactly what I was thinking as well, she the owner said the reason she didn't want to give the dog up was because she was pregnant, I would think that any vet could determine whether in fact that this dog was recently pregnant or not.  Also good catch about her nipples being so small and not in fact enlarged that would indicate that recently had a litter or pups.Â
I don't understand why a judge can't issue an order that would require her to turn over the correct (pregnant) dog. If she doesn't, they can arrest and hold her for contempt. Doesn't seem that complicated to me, so I must be missing something...?
Why wasn't the dog the culprit taken into custody immediately?????
Isn't the law??
Â
A German Shepard bit my 7 year old son years ago, fortunately he only got a small slash on his back, it tore his shirt off, the attacked the woman that opened the door to let him run to safety. Her husband beat the dog back with a metal bar. The dog was in custody for two months and finally returned to the owner.
Â
They kept the dog another couple of years until it attached a member in their family. Â Then they got rid of it.
Â
WHY was the dog not taken into immediate custody?????????
All the time in the world to cover your tracks. Do dogs have shot records, is the name the same? Just wondering.

@Rugrat There certainly are people out there that make us wish for the days of good ole western justice...
At this point.... is anyone really surprised? I didnt know that the dog bit a total of 4 people, but with how uncooperative she has been, im not shocked. She probably bought a similar looking dog off of craigslist or something. These people are morons.

@hankhandsome Are you talking about the dog or about people who post stupid things on this board? How do you know she is illegal. But I guess to you, anyone who looks Hispanic is illegal. Right?Â
@peckishpete  @hankhandsome How about the people and the dog, sounds like they would fit in nicely south of the border!
Both the mother and son need to be taken in and ""really questioned"" on this issue until the truth comes out and legal action is taken against them.
what makes me mad is the owner of this Pit Bull. It makes responsible pit bull owners that take care of, make sure our dogs are on leashes and under our control at all times look bad. I feel bad for the little boy and what he has had to endure. I feel bad for the mystery pit bull that animal control is saying there is no way that this is the same dog.The poor dog may be being blamed for something she did not do and not to mention would label her as a bad dog that could wind up with her being destroyed, while the one everyone needs to worry about is out and raising the risk of others being injured or worse killed. throw her in jail and tell her until she admits where the real dog is she is staying there.
I cannot "LIKE" this comment BIG enough!!
Lock her up.Â
 @KKStJohn Or bury her!
Apparently the animal control officer interviewed here had seen the original animal as well, and visually identifies that these are not the same animals...
This owner claims she loves her dog and that it was her bottle-fed baby. Okay. So where are all of her photos of the beloved baby? Does anyone in the family have photos of the animal they can offer up as proof?
Â
They are trading the real dog's pups for money and/or street drugs. This dangerous animal is a commodity to them. As I've pointed out before -- listen to their own words. They don't refer to this pet by a gender pronoun (as any of us who love our dogs do!). The animal is always an "it" to them.
Â
I'll bet that if there were a monetary reward offered in this case, all of this family's "friends" and family would turn over the right dog.Â
Whooops! Just sat through the story -- they are offering a photo or two as "proof", but how recent is that photo, and do they have anything that places themselves in a photo with the animal and can be reliably dated to earlier in the year?Â
And the fact that this woman is still walking the streets is a blatant reminder of the stupidity coming from the judicial system. It is an insolent slap in the face to every law abiding citizen. A 5 year old boy is dealing with life altering effects and being put through hell because this women thinks she's better than the law.
Don't you love living in a society that's so compassionate for criminals, idiots, scam-artists and liars at the expense of decent people?
@hankhandsome Yep our great injustice system at work again...
Pregnant dog. Not pregnant dog. Is it rocket science?
@M e e p exactly!  That is what I was thinking.. they kept saying the dog is pregnant ... that dog is not pregnant and doesn't look like she just had puppies.
The pet choice of society's finest. It's like a really really good stereotype, only it's for realz.
"loosely fits the same dog that has now bitten four people"..now that is three too many. Once is bad enough, the other three are on the owner. She needs to be serving time plain and simple.
It is not so much the breed of animal, but how they are raised. The same with humans usually. If they are raised to respect the law and others...then they will. If they are raised to snub their nose at the law, and the rights of other people, then the circle will keep going.
I would imagine that most people if they had an animal that attacked this many people, would have put the dog down their selves.
This has gone on long enough, LE or somene needs to step up to the plate, and take this lady, her dog and the son and deal with them. For them to keep going after their dog did this to a child is totally ridiculous! She did not learn from her first time in prison, so she needs another lesson
According to the law, regardless of animal cruelty laws we have, dogs are still considered property. Â Since she has admitted this dog was her "property" she should be charged with assault. Â A crowbar is property and if you smack someone with a crowbar you'd get charged with assault.
Â
This is no different.
Put Vasquez in jail until she decides to give up the vicious dog that attacked the child. What kind of a person allows their dog to permanently maim a child and then refuses to give it up and shows no remorse for the poor child? I think she should be charged with assault, child abuse, or something similar.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but why isn't this woman in county lock up for assault? That poor little boy was mauled by her dog. Her dog. She admitted it's her dog.
Â
These subhuman fecal material types make me sick.

@slc3755 To generalize by saying that anyone who owns one of these dogs are white trash, gang bangers, etc., is an insult to the responsible owners of these dogs. A responsible owner has their dog spayed or neutered, chipped, given all the necessary vaccinations and properly LICENSED, and under the owners control at all times when in public. I happen to own one of these dogs, got him from the shelter as a pup 11 years ago. He is up to date on his shots, and license. He is fixed and chipped. When we are out in public, or even out in the back yard, he is on his leash. Does this make me white trash, a gang banger? I don't think so. It is the people like Vasquez and her a$$h01e son Nicholas that give the breed a bad name.Â
Helen Keller owned a pit bull. The Little Rascals dog was a pit bull. Did owning these dogs make them white trash, gang bangers, drug addicts or felons?
@theobserver Not to worry about my comments, they were deleted, probably by a staff member who loves the Pit Bull breed. Oh well, I suppose that censorship is alive and well on this forum. People should not be censored for speaking the truth unless it is laced with profanity (My comments were not). The PitBull is definitely the dog of choice of gang bangers, white trash, felons, and drug dealers.  If you doubt this, go into any inner city ghetto or low end trailer park and see for yourself what the number one breed is,,,, YOU WOULD BE RIGHT IF YOU GUESSED, THE PIT BULL. Sorry if the truth hurts.  You can always cry to the censors to remove the bad references to this wonderful docile breed.Â
@theobserver I did not refer to "Anyone" who owns a Pit bull.  I said that the breed was the "Dog of choice" among that group.  That statement is an undeniable fact and to recognize otherwise is delusional.  Pit Bull owners are notorious for not acknowledging the disproportionate number of people who are attacked by the breed. Historically, they have been bred for fighting, ripping, tearing,  etc (See Giant head/Jaws). This is in their genetics. My brother has three Pit Bulls and while they certainly love the family and friends, they are also wary of strangers (Friend or foe, they can't tell) and they are especially aggressive towards other dogs, which to me is a deal killer. To mention this to my brother is to guarantee an argument.  He, like other Pit bull owners (Including the ones who chew up the neighbor's' kids)  think his Pit Bulls are "Just big ole babies".Â
@slc3755 @theobserver "Pit Bull owners are notorious for not acknowledging the disproportionate number of people who are attacked by the breed." Unfortunately this is caused by a disproportionate number of losers who chose to own this breed & allow them to behave badly, which then gives the breed in general a bad reputation (as has happened with German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, etc in the past). I think if the consequences of allowing this type of bad behavior were harsher, maybe the owners would be more responsible.
If she doesn't want to return to prison then quit playing games lady.. I am so disgusted with this woman, she does not care about a 5 year old boy at all.. She doesn't care that this boy had to forgo the painful rabies shots, she only cares about herself.. I say lock this wench up for a very long time.. I had a dog years ago, like this woman I really loved the dog, but the dog chased a child down the street, knocked her off her bike and got in her face , vicious and growling, I pulled her away.. The next day, tears running down my face I had her put to sleep.. There is no way you can keep a pet that will attack a child, or even has the potential to do so.. This lady is beyond human, she doesn't care about this boy in any way, man, there should be a law just for that.. Lock this witch up and make her bring the right dog in..
doug...........absolutely right !
@dougrpdx  well said
