Dive team investigating vehicle in Columbia River near Woodland

WOODLAND, Wash. – A dive team is investigating a submerged vehicle in the Columbia River slough near Woodland.

Emergency crews responded to a reported car in the water near Dike Rd. and Dike Access Rd. just after 1 p.m.

Tim Dawdy with Clark County Fire and Rescue said it’s unclear how long the vehicle has been in the water.

Witnesses who saw the pickup go into the slough said there was no one else inside but the driver.

But when members of the Cowlitz Dive Rescue team found and checked the pickup, they found there was no one inside, according to the sheriff's office.

They've search nearby but have not yet found the driver.

According to the sheriff's office, divers will return to the scene to continue searching on Saturday.

Conditions in the area were icy and snowy earlier Friday, according to Dawdy.
