Wanted man and his mom arrested in Salem
SALEM, Ore. - A man who was wanted on multiple violations of a restraining order was arrested late Monday just a few hours after police put out an alert about him.
Douglas Henry Burkhardt, 33, of Aumsville, is not supposed to go anywhere near his ex-girlfriend but she told police he has been continuing to menace and assault her.
According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Burkhardt recently accosted his ex-girlfriend and busted out her car window with a 2x4 piece of lumber.
Burkhardt has a long criminal history that includes being a felon in possession of a firearm, giving false information to a police officer, possession of controlled substances and violating prior restraining orders.
Burkhardt was taken into custody after detectives spotted him riding as a passenger in a 1998 white Chevrolet Blazer that was traveling on 45th Avenue Northeast in Salem.
His mother, who had told police she would let them know if she saw him, was driving the vehicle.
Burkhardt was arrested without incident and booked into the Marion County Jail on two counts of violating a restraining order, two counts of domestic menacing, one count of third-degree assault, one count of third-degree criminal mischief, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree attempted burglary.
His mother, Judith Anderson, was arrested as well and charged with hindering prosecution. She was released at the scene with a citation to appear in court.
