Driver injured when truck hits fallen tree on Hwy 30

CLATSKANIE, Ore. – A truck driver was injured when the truck hit a large tree that fell across Highway 30 west of Clatskanie.
The truck flipped onto its side after hitting the tree at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said the tree was about two feet in diameter.
The unidentified driver was taken to St. John’s Medical Center in Longview, Wash. with minor injuries.
The highway was blocked for about two hours while an ODOT crew cleared the log and other debris.
No other vehicles were damaged.
Even though it is not correct calling a pickup a truck, they have been called this for years, even by semi-truck drivers. Â There are more important things to worry about and the way some big truck drivers drive is one of them.
I've spent many years of my life being a "Truck" driver. I pay a lot of money to maintain my CDL and endorsements and medical card.I have driven "Truck" all over this nation on most every hwy and freeway. and in almost every big city in each state..How dare the news media claim a pickup driver is a "Truck Driver" When that same pickup driver has a CDL and a current medical card and can actually drive a REAl "Big Truck",then could he or she, be called a "Truck Driver"
@Whitehawk How dare they call him a" truck" driver.... how do you know the "truck" driver did not have a CDL? pretty common thing to have these days.... a chimp can have a CDL.... I even have one... not much to it really... just driving..... 80 bucks is a lot of money for a medical card? .... you make it seem like you spend thousands of dollars each year just to keep a license.... lighten up!
@Whitehawk  Many of my family members drive short and long haul trucks (east coast). I agree with you. A pickup truck driver is NOT a Truck driver. Drive safe.
Thanks to the local fire dept. sending me on a trek through the back country at night for just diverting traffic and not telling anyone how to get back on the highway. Merry Christmas!
Truck driver? what company did he drive for?A pickup truck is not a "Big Truck" and the driver of a pickup is NOT a TRUCK driver ..how misleading of KATU news
 @Whitehawk Words aren't important when you are trying to tell a story. Well, at least not to "professional" journalists...
recalculating...
I am glad it was a truck and not one of those small high mileage cars that would have folded up like a cheap suit. The outcome would have been a lot different.
Â
 @RalphCramden You mean the death traps that claim to be a car with wheels? Yeah! I'm in total agreement.
 @washcomomÂ
It's a waste of time to put seatbilts in those cars. They stand a better chance of being ejected (not really, that's sarcasm, one should always wear seat belts).
