GASTON, Ore. – Two drivers were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Gaston.
Police said alcohol was involved in the crash.
It happened near Northwest Goodin Creek Road, one mile south of Gaston, at around 11:30 a.m.
Gary Clark, 62, was driving a Nissan pickup truck northbound on Highway 47 when he braked hard to avoid a stopped vehicle preparing to turn onto Goodin Creek Road, police said. Clark's pickup crossed into the southbound lanes and crashed into a Volkswagen Jetta.
Gary Clark was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to OHSU in Portland. The driver of the Jetta, 42-year-old Shelia White-Clark, was taken to OHSU in an ambulance. Police said the two are not related. Both are expected to survive.
The highway was closed for about one hour.
Charges are pending at this time, police said.
