Woman killed in Eastwood Village Apartments shooting identified

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Police have release the name of a woman shot and killed early this morning at the Eastwood Village Apartments.

Around 5:00 a.m. Portland Police responded to a call at the apartments on Southeast Powell Blvd. where witnesses at the scene told police they heard gunshots at an apartment.

Portland Police located a dead female inside an apartment. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Ervaeua Ronchelle Herring, a resident of the Eastwood Village Apartments.

The suspects were described as several African Americans with handguns. Initial information obtained by police at the sight of the shooting and witness statements indicates this is a gang-related shooting.

Homicide detectives along with a forensic team are gathering evidence for their preliminary investigation. No further information is expected to be released at this time.

The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate any gang and gun crimes in Portland.
