PORTLAND, Ore. – Friday might be a good day to avoid Sellwood if you can.
Crews began a huge concrete pour early Friday morning as part of their work on the foundation for the new Sellwood bridge.
On the west side, crews will close one lane of southbound Highway 43 from 9 a.m. through mid-afternoon. They’ll also be holding traffic near the bridge for periodic equipment deliveries.
There’s also still a detour in Sellwood to get to Highway 43 that will likely back up traffic on the east side of the bridge.
The new bridge is scheduled to open in 2015.
