Fatal car crash in Damascus prompts Foster Road closure

DAMASCUS, Ore. -- One person was killed and another injured Friday morning after a head-on traffic crash in Damascus.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 21000 block of Southeast Foster Road at approximately 8:15 a.m. and found two cars were involved in a head-on crash. The driver with injuries was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The driver's injuries are unknown. Names of either driver have not been released by police.

As of 10 a.m., police are investigating this crash and have Foster Road closed in both directions between Damascus Lane and SE 197th Avenue. This stretch of Foster Road is just north of Sunnyside Road in the city of Damascus. Foster Road is expected to be closed for approximately two hours while the investigation is conducted.

At the time of the collision, weather conditions were clear but there were reports of black ice on the roadway, police said, and that road conditions may have been a factor in the crash.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is asking drivers to use caution while driving this morning.
