Fire destroys home, damages neighboring houses in NE Portland
Firefighters said the fire was so intense that they could not enter the home because it was too dangerous.

PORTLAND, Ore. – A fire destroyed a vacant Northeast Portland house and damaged two neighboring homes Wednesday morning.

The fire started just after 2 a.m. at 14932 N.E. Graham Street, firefighters said. A neighbor called 911 when she saw the home was fully engulfed.

When firefighters arrived, they found fire extending to two neighboring homes. Crews called for more resources with a second alarm.

Residents from both neighboring homes got out safely, according to Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman, Lt. Rich Chatman.

No one was hurt.

Firefighters extinguished the fires around 4 a.m. At least two homes were significantly damaged, Chatman said.

Investigators are looking into a cause.

The Red Cross is helping four people who were displaced by the fire.
