Firefighters extinguish 2-alarm house fire in Salem

SALEM, Ore. – Crews extinguished a house fire that badly damaged a Salem home Sunday night.

No one was hurt. One person was home during the fire and they got out safely before firefighters from Marion County Fire District 1 arrived at the scene.

It happened at 180 Kenwood Ave. N.E. just before 11:30 p.m.

Firefighters called for more crews and resources with a second alarm. More than 40 firefighters responded to the fire.

The fire caused significant damage to the home’s second floor and attic, firefighters said.

Crews had the fire extinguished 30 minutes after they arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
